This is a 6-quart over-the-sink colander made of 18/8 stainless steel. The basket is a deep, concave mesh oval measuring 13.5 by 9.5 inches. A pair of expandable rubber grip handles slides out to span the sink, so the basket sits over the basin.
The job is simple. Pasta comes off the stove and the water goes down the drain. Lettuce, berries and broccoli get rinsed and left to drip. A pot of soup or gravy gets strained to catch the lumps. Set across the sink, the handles hold the basket in position while you pour.
Basket: Deep concave mesh oval, 13.5 x 9.5 inches, 6 quart capacity Handles: Expandable rubber grips in smooth stainless housings, 14.5 inches closed and 22.5 inches fully extended Base: Resting feet let it stand on a counter as a fruit and vegetable basket
We stock this because a colander that spans the sink gives bulk rinsing and draining a place to happen without crowding the counter. It is the large-format partner to the smaller strainers in our kitchen line.
